The stars truly aligned for this litter! We had collected Court at the impressive age of 10.5, which is quite senior for a stud dog, especially when collecting for frozen semen. With frozen breedings, smaller litters are typical, so we were over the moon when the x-ray revealed six puppies on the way. Rey then made things easy on us, breezing through pre-labour and delivering all six: four girls (Fuchsia, Silver, Orange, and Yellow) and two boys (Green and Onyx), all in just two and a half hours. Even better, she delivered them in broad daylight! As a final stroke of luck, our co-breeder and mentee Olivia, Daredevil Manchester Terriers, made it in time from PEI to help with the whelping. With so many fortunate moments, it only feels right that their theme is “The Lucky Shots.” Each puppy’s registered name includes the word “shot,” and their new families had the opportunity to choose names that reflect their individual personalities and stories.

Health Testing Results

Rey is a carrier of Von Willebrands, but Court is clear. This means none of the puppies would inherit two genes for Von Willebrands, but they could be carriers like their mother. Carriers do not show any sympoms, but it is important to breed them with clear mates, so none of their offspring will be affected. Rey is also a carrier for prcd-PRA, a newly discovered variant among Manchesters (Court is clear). Each puppy was tested for both vWD and prcd-PRA, and here are the resuts.
